Are You Ready to Admit that Steve Blake is not only our Best Option, he's Good!?

I have suffered under the moniker Captain Obvious at times in my life. And it seems obvious to me that Blake > Sergio and Blake > Bayless. Let's review:

Yes, Bayless is a valuable talent obviously improving with PT, even though his shot is only consistent at the rim. Bayless does his best work when things break down and in the open court. He is still learning the wrinkles in the offense, and his need for improved court vision is a challenge to his development.

Yes, Sergio's consistency is improved, even though his TOs, defensive struggles and tendency to bounce the ball up top for ten seconds ala Damon Stoudamire I find senseless -- we only got 24 seconds to score, man. Sergio is also marginal in the open court. Sergio seems to play best when desperate, where the shot clock running down better justifies his creative approach.

Whereas, Steve Blake is Mr. Consistency. He has a great Assist to TO Ratio, is a competent and sometimes exceptional (watch him on Nash, for instance) defender, and spreads the floor with his perimeter shooting, hits the open man, and runs our offense perhaps close to his potential. Steve will never have Bayless' next gear going to the rack, and he does not give up on the solid to try for the spectacular.

So, Blake (yes, right now) is the better PG. I would also argue that Blake is flat out good. Ask yourself, if Steve Blake is in the line-up, do we lose some of these recent squeakers? With Blake, do the Blazers find themselves clawing back from 15 or 20 point deficits every game?

Now it's your turn:
