Some Post-Hedo Thoughts

1. If I read one more person supportingDavid Leecoming here, I will puke. It makes zero sense. He is a power forward, he is not nearly as good as LMA, he does not want to be a backup, and he wants tons of money. How does that make sense??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. We should not make ANY free agent pick-ups now. That is right, "ANY." If we were to pick up somebody, it would be an act of desperation. I am open to trades, but not free agents. There is nobody out there who excites me.Andre Millercan't hit his threes, and nobody else really gets me going. The free-agent pool was weak to begin with and is even more weak and picked-over now.

3. Hedo would have been a good (if not great) signing. Why didn't KP have our large Portland Turkish community (7 people) greet him at the airport? That would have been better than what we did (assistant coaches holding welcome signs?).

4. Short of the perfect deal, I would employ our current roster until the trade deadline and see what new crop of players pops up. This is how Chauncy Billups was had by theNuggets. After all, our core is really young and it might be better to wait and make a great deal, as opposed to causing irreversible harm with a bad deal.

5. The balance of power in the NBA is interesting. I think you can cross theRocketsoff of the list for potential 50 win teams. The top three in the West seems to beLakers,Spurs, and Nuggets. The Richard Jefferson deal was a good move by the Spurs but a lot of "experts" are forgetting how old they are and how often they are breaking down. Their bench is now about the worst in the NBA. There starters are too old to play all the time and their bench is too horrible to play too long. The Nuggets, with Lawson, continue to improve. I believe the Nuggets and Lakers are the two teams to beat. I also don't see how the Lakers will not win the West. The one thing they lacked (toughness) was addressed with Artest. The Cavs andCelticswill contend for the East (if everyone remains healthy). With Hedo gone, I don't see theMagicgoing as far. Hedo was possibly the biggest factor in creating countless matchup problems for other teams in the postseason.

6. In short, I think we should sit back, pay our existing players what they are worth, and wait for the perfect deal.

[Edit by Ben: some nice points in here -- I've edited the inflammatory title and removed a sentence that seemed to upset people.]
