After watching hours of B Roy highlights the last few days, one observation really sticks out. The man had a knack for going off on national television. In fact, almost every milestone moment in his career happened during a nationally televised game. The 52 points vs Phoenix (TNT). The 42 points vs Houston in game 2 of the 2009 Playoffs (NBATV). The 41 points vs Denver on Christmas day (ESPN). The 41 points at Golden State to end a 9 game losing streak in Oakland (TNT). Those 4 games were the only times Roy hit the 40 point mark in his career. Then of course there was the double buzzer beater game vs Houston (TNT). And finally the unforgettable game 4 comeback vs Dallas in last year's playoffs (TNT).
这个不可能是一个巧合。B罗伊住for the big stage and came through time and time again when the pressure was on and the spotlight was brightest. Players like that don't come around very often.
What do you guys think? Could Roy have turned it on like this whenever he wanted? Was he trying to prove something to the national audience? Or did the spotlight actually elevate his game?
