As the trade deadline approaches, with a blockbuster having already taken place, we are all a little rumored-out. With each new rumor seemingly perceived/considered fact, it becomes increasingly difficult to decipher all the adjectives and verbs used to place meaning/importance on the rumor. So I thought I would take it upon myself to gather up all known rumor-phrasing and put it in layman's terms what the ACTUAL meaning is, rather than what the "Journalist" wants you to think it means.
"Term Used" => What it ACTUALLY means
"Official" => Done Deal
"Done Deal" => Doubtful to happen
"Imminent" => Not happening
"Rumor picking up steam" => Smoke screen, never happening
"Rumor" => Complete BS that was never even discussed
"It's been discussed" => One side may have mentioned a name, the other side quickly said "no" and both sides moved on amicably
"Source close to the Front Office" => Smoke screen and/or made up by the reporter to get ratings/website hits
“知情人士球员问题”= >up by the reporter to get ratings/website hits
*Feel free to add any you think I may have missed
