Blazers Sign C Jarron Collins to Second 10-Day Contract

The Portland Trail Blazers have announced the signing of reserve center Jarron Collins to a second 10-day contract. Portland's roster stands at 14 players. Collins has played in three games for the Blazers, averaging 0 points and 2 rebounds in roughly 4 minutes per game. This contract carries Collins through games against the Charlotte Bobcats (March 11), Atlanta Hawks (March 12), Dallas Mavericks (March 15), Cleveland Cavaliers (March 17), Philadelphia 76ers (March 19) and Los Angeles Lakers (March 20). After that stretch, the Blazers would need to decide whether to keep Collins for the remainder of the season or part ways. He is the only healthy true center on the roster aside from starter Marcus Camby, however power forward LaMarcus Aldridge has seen a bunch of time in the middle. Portland signed Collins to a 10-day contract on March 1. He has appeared in three games for the Trail Blazers, totaling six rebounds and one assists. Collins, 32, holds career averages of 3.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 15.8 minutes in 540 games (216 starts) with Utah, Phoenix, L.A. Clippers and Portland.
