韦塞尔:大卫·卡恩罗伊的并不感到惊讶Knee Trouble

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Brandon Roy has had three straight DNPs because of knee soreness after appearing in the first five games of the season. Roy, of course, is attempting a comeback from unofficial retirement last season after the Portland Trail Blazers released him using the amnesty clause back in December 2011.

The Timberwolvesreleased Roy's close friend, Will Conroy, on Thursday to sign Josh Howard to help deal with a rash of injuries.

Dana Wesselof1500ESPN.comreportsthat Timberwolves GM David Kahn, who signed Roy to a 2-year contract worth a reported $10 million, said Thursday that he's not surprised Roy is having knee problems already.

"I would like to (play Friday)," Roy said. "That's the goal. I don't want to say yeah or no, but I would like to try to get out there Friday."

There is added caution with Roy because the injury is in those knees that have no cartilage remaining. He originally banged it in a preseason game in Green Bay and it just keeps getting knocked. He says he needs to get to a point where he can handle the pain.

"You just have to get to a point in the season where you can tolerate it," he said.

"Absolutely (we expected bumps in the road)," Kahn said. "We were very clear last summer that we didn't expect everything to be issue-free. We didn't expect the opposite. We went into it not knowing what to expect. So, I don't think that anything that has occurred up to this point could be considered surprising."

Roy's early season play hasdrawn some fairly harsh criticism. He is scheduled to make his Rose Garden return on Friday, Nov. 23.

Roy, 28, is averaging 5.8 points, 4.6 assists 2.8 rebounds in 24.4 minutes per game.
