Forget championships. Can we just get a fun player to watch? I mean someone really exciting? Draft or via trade?
I'm not even talking about legit superstars likeDwight HowardorDeron Williams. Remember when theNetsgotVince Carter? That kinda trade.
Ok Vince is a superstar but I recall he was on the downside of his career and the Nets didn't win anything with Carter but AT LEAST Vince gave them a good show with some dunks and stuff. That's what we need some entertainment, some attractive basketball.
I mean it's flat out depressing reading about Blazers history and seeing how few great players we've had. I mean we've had Clyde and Walton but so few others. Look at thePhoenix Suns, they've won zero titles yet have had a boatload of amazing players likeJason Kidd, Kevin Johnson,Steve Nash,Shawn Marion,Amare Stoudemire(in his prime), Charles Barkley, etc.
I want a hall-of-fame player to spend most of his prime career in Portland just once. Forget championships, that's all I want at this point. Walton got injured so he doesn't count. Drexler applies.
I'll even settle for a Lebron type situation where they spend part of their prime here then ditch us for another team.
I'm so freaking tired of all these players that only hoop purists can appreciate. I want some glamour, I want a player that non-Blazers fans want to buy jerseys of. Some guy that people want to pay to see and create some buzz.
And don't give me humble. Humble and modest are so overrated in pro sports. Give me a loudmouth, give me a personality, give me a celebrity. No "Oh gosh he's so humble he's my Grandma's favorite player". Give me someone who the 9-13 year olds think are cool.
