The idea that we could trade forAl Horfordseems a bit too hopeful as he is one of the better big men in the L. But it might not be waaaaay far fetched.
It is not all the unrealistic to think that theHawkscould go for theThunderstyle rebuild. A high pick in the highly touted 2014 draft would be an important part of that.
A team led by Al Horford probably isn't a playoff team, nor bad enough to compete for a high draft pick. A trade could land them a few assets and the chance at a high pick.
Could we get a deal done? Wes (to a third team for a pick and/or younger players), Freeland, Leonard, Barton, #10, and 2nd rounders for Horford.
I am not a fan of trading Wes and we give up basically all of our upside pieces. But of course if you want a bordeline All-Star center, you have to make sacrifices.
We would need to find a starting two in free agency for sure. The great thing about this trade, it would give us a major piece without taking a huge chunk of our cap-space.
No better trade offers for Horford jump to mind, though maybe there would be.
