Portland Trail Blazers Sign Diante Garrett

The Oregonian's Joe Freemanreportsthat thePortland Trail Blazershave signed former Iowa State guardDiante Garrettto a non-guaranteed, two-year contract.

The 6'4" shooting guard has playedtwo seasons total in the NBA, averaging 2 points in 19 games for Phoenix in his rookie campaign and 3.5 points in 71 appearances for theUtah Jazzlast year. He was traded to Toronto this summer and released.

Garrett's signing marks the second training-camp-oriented move for the Blazers in as many weeks, following theJames Southerland deal. Neither contract obligates the Blazers if they choose to waive the player in question.
