Here's a transcript of the interview brand new Trail Blazers forward Noah Vonleh gave to assembled media, including David MacKay of Blazer's Edge.
After being buried in Charlotte last year, how do you feel you can have a bigger impact here in Portland?
I think there is a lot of opportunity here. We have a lot of young guys on the roster. Everybody’s hungry. I just have to go out there and show the coaches what I can do and hopefully get into the rotation and get some playing time.
With so many big men on the roster, how competitive do you see training camp being?
Training camp is going to be real competitive. We’re real deep. I think we got six or seven big men on the roster, so it’s going to be real competitive. Everybody’s going to try to show what they can do, so it’s going to be a good week.
Was there a specific area of focus during the summer and through voluntary workouts?
I’ve been working on my range shooting; working on my defensive schemes, being in the right place; learning the right calls in coverage for thePortland Trail Blazerssystem, and I think I’m doing a pretty good job with that.
What are your individual goals for this year?
Do the best I can to help my team win, go out there and play hard, keep extending my range and rebounding the ball, and building a name for myself in this league.
What did it mean to have that time in San Diego where you could get to know all of the incoming players as you entered as a conglomerate?
It was good. I’m happy Damian [Lillard]decided to make a trip for the guys to get a bonding experience and get a feel for the other younger guys. I think that was basically what that trip was for and I think it will definitely help us out through the season and as we’re going into training camp.
