Blazers To Meet With Stephen Silas About Coaching Vacancy

Sunday afternoon,Adrian Wojnarowski of The Verticalreported that Charlotte Hornets assistant coach Stephen Silas is a final candidate for numerous coaching vacancies around the league including the Portland Trail Blazers Assistant Coach position vacated by Jay Triano last week.

Silas has become a hot commodity over the past couple of days, as the Houston Rockets are said to be favoring him as the lead candidate to fulfill their open coaching slot, and the Golden State Warriors have entered the race for his services as well.

The Rockets are seriously considering a coaching partnership that includes Silas and Lionel Hollins as associate head coach, league sources said. What had become a Houston process destined to hire D'Antoni has been transformed into a two-candidate race.

The Warriors could no longer wait until the end of the playoffs to secure Luke Walton's replacement on Kerr's staff because of Silas' growing candidacy in Houston. Golden State is playing Oklahoma City on Sunday in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals.

No news has yet been confirmed of any actual talks or meetings between Silas and Trail Blazers management at this point.
