Building the Blazers' Core

Here's the big question: hypothetically, could Lillard and McCollum lead a championship caliber team?

Let me frame question a little. Let us suppose that there are basically two factors that determine how good your team is 1: the core all-stars (for a good team this is usually 2 or 3 players who's contracts add up to over half the cap) 2: complementary players on smaller contracts that fill the rest of the roster.

It seems to me that before worrying about complementary players, you have to have confidence in your core. So how much confidence do you have in the Lillard/McCollum core?

You may be thinking "Lillard and McCollum are good but they need a third max guy to really compete." Ok, I'll give you that, but without Anthony Davis sized pipe dreams, who's the guy?

!!! TAKE THE CHALLENGE !!!!!!

Build a three man core that can compete with the big boys in the league. You can add any player you want to Lillard and McCollum but there's ONE RULE- the player you add can't be obviously better than CJ or Damian. In other words, with Lillard and McCollum as your best players, is it possible to build a championship level core? There are no rules about using specific stats to prove someone's weaker than our guards, and you can assume a little growth from the pair since they are pretty young.
