A diamond in the (German) rough

Paul Zipser. I just heard about this guy so I went to YouTube to try and find some video.

Wow. Think Mario Hezonja with a couple additional inches of height and a better defender. Watching his video, it's hard to pinpoint any holes in his game. I realize I've seen a small sample size but if his game is truly reflected in his highlights I think he could be a great role player. If we were to trade AFA, I'd love to see Zipser get a shot to replace him. His game is perfect for what this team needs, assuming he could duplicate it at this level. I know, the NBA is a world away from the league he's in right now. But, certain traits translate at any level. He's 6'8" with a 7' reach. He is a very good athlete that plays physically tough. Offensively he would be the third ball handler this team needs. He penetrates whenever he wants going with either hand. He takes advantage of these skills and has a terrific mid-range, pull-up game. On top of this, he shot over 40 percent on 3's and over 80 percent from the line. Defensively he guards several different positions and does a very good job keeping the ball handler in front of him. He is a very good shot blocker, especially coming from off the ball. He is an above average rebounder on both ends. He does a great job anticipating the shot and fights for position early. I think he'd also bring some toughness that this team could use more of. Frankly, I'm surprised he isn't getting more ink. I know I've made him sound like he's already an All-Star but it's pretty easy to be impressed with him. Take a look at his tape and see for yourself.
