We gave up 108.8 PPG. I know what we wanted was a rim protector but for now we will have to deal with someone that is a good defender (not a rim protector). I read some of the stats posted on another thread (in the comments section) pertaining to Turner saying that he is a good P&R defender and Isolation defender. Top 70% in each. His highlight videos confirm this for what its worth. Last year Draymond Green had a total of 5.1 defensive win shares. Evan Turner had 3. To compare to what we had last year, our best defender (Al Farouq Aminu) had 2.3 defensive win shares. Win shares are an estimate of how many games were won by a players defense. Although we didn't upgrade our center I believe that Evan Turner will actually help out our team a lot. His ability to distribute, ball handle, and shoot the midrange jumper and/or create his own shot will be valuable as a third option. With Dame, CJ, Turner, Aminu, and Plumlee (unless we sign someone else), I believe that Aminu and Turner can mask some of our defensive deficiencies. I know it's optimistic to think this way but I really do have to trust Olshey on this one.
