Christian James McCollum. I think I speak for everybody when I say we all love the guy, he's one of the most electrifying offensive players in the NBA. I'm more than happy to say that i'm now comfortable applying the 'star' label to his name.
Our Blazers, as you all know, pummelled expectations for the 15/16 NBA season, not only were they able to make the playoffs, but they even managed to knock off a dangerous LA Clippers team when they got there. Throughout the season, and even more so during the off-season we've asked ourselves, how? Usually General Manager Neil Olshey gets the bulk of the credit for his sneaky-good acquisitions of guys like Edward Davis and Al-Farouq Aminu, but some bloke named CJ, code-name: 'The Shark', managed to, oh, you know, more than triple his scoring average, quadruple has assist average, and do it all with the efficiency of a heat pump.
Make no mistake, if CJ didn't go bonkers last season then we wouldn't have even sniffed the playoffs, in fact we'd have been lucky to finish any higher than second-last without him. The thing is, you all know this, we were all happy to see him breakout this year, and we gave him a hearty 'congrats' when he romped the rest of the field en-route to winning the Most Improved Player Award, but on reflection, I don't think he's received the props that he deserves. Not only did he manage to put up All-Star-esque numbers offensively, but, and this is darn impressive for someone who only really got his first dosage of major minutes this year,he kept it up in the playoffs.He's also, like Damian, voiced his desire to stay in Portland long-term, something that's rare these days and certainly evokes all da feels!
We all have love for CJ, that's a given, but I just wanted to make this thread real quick because I think CJ deserves a huge love-fest. Everyone get involved and post your favourite CJ clips, quotes and give the guy some love! I'll get the ball rolling.
