Hey B-Edge! Recently, I've been examining the value of these contracts being thrown around, and it's been surprising to say the least. 4/64 for MOZGOV? 5/153 for MIKE FRIGGIN CONLEY?! I was looking for answers! With thenew capany crazy contract could be possible. So searching online I found a few indicators that ET might not of been a bad deal. I foundthis chartthat compares free agent production from last year to their new contracts. I got this off of thisreddit thread.
Apparently for this chart production is defined as:"I gave each player statistic a Z-score ranking (A z-score indicates how many standard deviations it is from the mean) and combined them to give an overall value. Last season Steph came out on top, with a total score of 29. For comparison, Mozgov got a 2."
With the metrics being:"9 categories/statistics were used: PTS, REB, AST, STL, BLK, FG%, FT%, 3PM and TO."
I wish he was more in-depth on how he calculated production, but it seems pretty accurate. Using his chart, some of the free agents we were targeting (e.g. Austin Rivers, Cole Aldrich) were overpaid even with this new cap. This is by no means an ad for the website, I have no affiliation with it. I just posted this to nullify the burn of not signing Whiteside. Comment what you guys think!!!
Bonus: Here'sEvan Turner's Rookie Mixtape. It's pretty fire.
