Why Portland Does It:我承认,波特兰是giving up quite a bit in this trade. Ed Davis and Shabazz Napier have been our biggest contributors off the bench. However, from a financial standpoint, this move makes sense for the Blazers. Shabazz and Ed will get paid this summer due to their recent production. While we are focused on re-signing Nurkic and already have a bloated payroll, it will be tough for us to bring back Shabazz and Ed, let alone Noah. As impressed as I have been with Shabazz who has carried us with Dame injured and Ed who consistently defends and rebounds each night, its probably not realistic for us to bring back both players and re-sign Nurkic. If anything, we should probably look to take advantage of the increased trade value of Ed and Shabazz. Saric, meanwhile, could be an excellent stretch four option for us. Although he struggles to defend, his floor-spacing could be so valuable on a team that desperately needs length and shooting to take pressure off Dame and CJ. Additionally, he is still under contract for three more years when he will become a restricted free agent. By then, ET, Meyers, and Mo's salaries will all be coming off the books, so we should have no trouble re-signing him. Having a young wing who can shoot, pass, and score at a cheap price is exactly what the Blazers need.

Why Philly Does It:Philly is in a great position to go after a max free agent this summer. Their youth, talent, and potential could be very attractive for a top free agent looking to change teams. They should have cap room this offseason, but with Embiid's extension kicking in, they'll have to clear a little bit more room to offer a max contract. Dumping Bayless and Saric for three expiring contracts clears about 11 million for the Sixers this summer. Obviously losing Saric is a tough price to pay, but getting rid of Bayless' contract is a major win. Additionally, Napier and Davis are two players that could help them this year in a playoff push. Napier should be especially attractive after his recent play. If Philly is looking to clear cap for the offseason and wants to keep their playoff chances alive, they might consider this deal.
