Video: Evan Turner Breaks Hand

New, comments

Evan Turner broke his hand in the third quarter of the Blazers’ game against the Dallas Mavericks.

UPDATE (8:30 PM): Turner told reporters after the game that the injury would likely not need surgery. He did not, however, announce a recovery timeframe.

In classic ET fashion, he also lamented the “janky” nature of the injury, wishing he had a “legit injury” by “going up for a dunk or something cool like that, not playing defense, chasing somebody over a screen.” Here’s audio of the full interview, courtesy of Casey Holdahl, the Blazers Digital Reporter:

Evan Turnerleft tonight’sPortland Trail Blazersvs.Dallas Mavericksgame with a fractured right hand.

The incident occurred with 7:47 to go in the third quarter when Turner ran into aHarrison Barnesscreen. Turner held his hand gingerly for several possessions before heading to the Portland locker room.

Blazers PR subsequently reported that Turner had fractured the hand.

Despite the injury, Turner still took the time to throw a left-handed fastbreak assist toAl-Farouq Aminu.

Turner had scored 11 points in 23 minutes in this game at the time of the injury. He is averaging 9.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game for the season. With Turner down, the Blazers are missing both of their major free-agent signings from the Summer of 2016. Center Festus Ezeli has yet to suit up for Portland this year.
