NBA: NBA Draft Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

For the last 14 months,大火r’s Edge Radiohas aired every Tuesday at noon on 107.1XRAY.FMand the experience has been nothing short of fantastic. When XRAY approached me about doing the show, I honestly had reservations. Having worked in corporate radio, I’ve seen first hand how the message can get diluted; there are sponsors to please and average-quarter-hour listeners to maintain

XRAY’s mission statement is “Radio is Yours” and that has proven to be true without a shadow of a doubt. With input from the Blazer’s Edge crew, I have complete control of the program every week and get to deliver to you a unique opportunity to talk Blazers without the aforementioned influences. Thanks to you, we’ve been nominated in Willamette Week’s 2017 “Best in Portland” poll for best local radio show.

“It’s an honor to just be nominated”, as the saying goes, but, if I’m being honest, I want to win this thing. I would love for you to take 30 seconds and vote for Blazer’s Edge Radio as Portland’s best local radio show as well as XRAY.FM for best radio station. It’s a great way to honor the community that we have here at Blazer’s Edge and the willingness of XRAY to open their airwaves to the best of Portland.

Over the last year we’ve covered the Blazers, as well as the NBA as a whole, from every angle imaginable, talking about the last season’s highs and lows, theoretical trade targets, free agent acquisitions, and current news as it comes. We’ve also featured guests like actor Kelly AuCoin, basketball writer Sean Highkin, and multiple Blazer’s Edge contributors such as Tara Bowen-Biggs, Erik Gunderson, and Dan Marang.

Since we operate in radio format, we have the ability to take live calls and texts directly to the studio. Our mission is to interact with Blazer fans and give them an opportunity to drive the conversation. Just because I know what I want to talk about doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily in tune with what is on your mind. With Blazer’s Edge Radio, we all talk about the team in real time.

As the summer approaches, there is less to talk about with the team, but that won’t stop the show. Since the Blazers have three draft picks in the 2017 draft, oddsare we’ll seesomethinginteresting on draft night. That’s why Blazer’s Edge Radio will be broadcasting live from Spirit of ‘77 sports bar on draft night, June 22nd, from 4-7 pm. We’ll give you live coverage of the draft from a Blazers fan’s point of view, including pick by pick analysis and immediate reaction on anyTrail Blazersactivity.

We would love to see you on draft night. The show will feature me, Peter Sampson, and former Blazer’s Edge writer Evans Clinchy, as well as several of the Blazer’s Edge and XRAY.FM staff. Come out, have a pint, and talk basketball with your favorites from the site. In addition to offering analysis, we’ll be taking your questions live on the air. It’s another great opportunity for us to get together as a community and celebrate our love for the Trail Blazers.

Thank you all for being part of this wonderful community and all of you who listen to Blazer’s Edge Radio every Tuesday at noon. Enjoy the holiday and I hope I see you all at Spirit of ‘77 on June 22nd.
