Bonzi Wells Suffers Heart Attack

FormerPortland Trail BlazersguardBonzi Wellssuffered a heart attack at the age of 40. Wells posted a message in his Instagram Wednesday thanking the staff at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis for saving his life:

Wells was drafted by theDetroit Pistonsin 1998 but traded to Portland before the season began. He played with six seasons with the Trail Blazers averaging 13.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He was traded to the孟菲斯灰熊during the 2003-04 season.

The Trail Blazers wished Wells a speedy recovery on Twitter:

Wells participated in Ice Cube’s Big 3 three-on-three league over the summer, playing on a team with former Trail Blazer Jermaine O’Neal. Over the summer, hereflected on his yearsin Portland. He’s expected to be featured in anupcoming documentaryabout the early-2000’s “Jail Blazers” team that twice reached the NBA Conference Finals.
