The extension provides stability to a roster that includes newcomersPaul GeorgeandCarmelo Anthony, both of whom have the option to seek new deals in the summer of 2018. With their main player in the fold for the foreseeable future, the Thunder can experiment with their star forwards and offer them a more solid landing place should they re-sign with the team long term.
