Blazers Still Searching For Evan Turner’s ‘Best Fit’

Evan Turner’s role with theTrail Blazershas been a point of discussion in the lead up to the 2018-19 NBA season. Portland has revamped its bench in hopes of surrounding the former No. 2 overall pick with complementary pieces.

尼克StauskasandSeth Curryheadline the veteran additions that the Blazers made over the offseason in hopes of boosting Turner’s effectiveness. Outside of minutes off the bench, Turner appears to be in line for minutes next to Portland’s starting backcourt.

The idea isn’t that Lillard and McCollum will play fewer minutes or that Turner will become the fulcrum of the Blazers’ attack for 48 minutes. It’s mostly just to find Turner’s best fit. Even when he shares the court with the Blazers two star guards, the team may add some wrinkles that allow Turner have the ball in his hands while Lillard and McCollum space the floor and draw defensive attention.

Turner averaged 2.2 assists per game in his second full season with the Blazers in 2017-18.
