NBA Top 20 Player Rankings: All-Star Break Edition

The playoff push is on as each team plays it's final 25-ish games over these next several weeks, so with all of us deep into another NBA season, let's rank the NBA's top 20 players at the moment.

20. JOEL EMBIID, PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

Aren't we ll glad to finally see this guy healthy? Joel Embiid has had a terrific season. Although he's not a rookie, this is his first full year, and he's showing his greatness using old school post moves and merciless shot blocking defense, combined with jumpshooting and playing handling the ball like today's new age of centers. He could be a future MVP if this "process" comes around full circle for the Sixers.

19. DEMAR DEROZAN, TORONTO RAPTORS

DeMar DeRozan is having his best season ever right now. He may not be scoring at quite the rate of last season when he averaged over 27 points a game, but he is having his best season. This year he's finally starting knocking down threes, which makes him a dangerous force if he can be the master of the mid range, and a good three point shooter, while having some of the best footwork in the league as well. He's also a big sleeper in the MVP discussion because the Raptors have found their way to the 1st seed in the East. He's finally getting the respect he deserves.

18. KARL-ANTHONY TOWNS, MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES

KAT得分下降因为他的团队transformed into a star-power contending team this season. And that's okay. He's averaging just 20 points, five points less than last year, but he's still a terrific rebounder, a great shooting center, and his team is winning. Winning is highly rewarded in this league, and Towns is feeling the rewards of winning in this All-Star season of his.

17. KYLE LOWRY, TORONTO RAPTORS

Kyle Lowry is another point who has seen a decrease in scoring production this year. What does Lowry get in return? Well his team is at the top of the East with command of the 1st seed at the moment, and scoring less doesn't make Lowry's value to the Raptors success go down at all. He's averaging 6 rebounds and 7 assists, really aiming to better his other teammates and spread the floor. And he's stayed healthy this year!

16. JOHN WALL, WASHINGTON WIZARDS

John Wall has struggled to stay healthy this year. He's missed a lot of games this season and will finish the season with less than 60 games played, which is why the Wizards haven't quite been where they expected to be as far as the standings go. Still, Wall averaged nearly 11 assists last year, and is averaging over 9 assists this year in his time played. He's a quality defender with terrific speed on the court, but can he help the Wizards to a strong finish when he comes back from knee surgery next month?

15. PAUL GEORGE, OKC THUNDER

PG13's move to OKC didn't change much for what he's been able to contribute. Right now, he leads the league in steals, and is up for defensive player of the year, while still having some great scoring efforts night in and night out. His highest scoring game this year was a 43 point outburst against the Nuggets. Who knows where he ends up next season, but for now he seems happy in OKC.

14. KYRIE IRVING, BOSTON CELTICS

Uncle Drew the ankle taker. Yessir, Kyrie Irving has had a terrific season. Statistically, his numbers have surprisingly dipped, as his scoring and passing numbers aren't quite wat they were last year. Regardless, his decision to request a trade out of Cleveland has worked out tremendously, as he's now leading a potential championship contender with the Celtics. Right now, this man may have the best handles of all time, and his talent will only increase over the coming years.

13. DAMIAN LILLARD, PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS

Here's why Dame is ahead of Kyrie. He's consistently been a better scorer than Irving, averaging more points than Kyrie for his career, and he averages more assists than Kyrie for his career. Like Irving, Lillard has been apart of a playoff caliber team every year, he just hasn't gotten the supporting cast that Kyrie Irving has had throughout his career. That aside, Lillard has improved defensively this season, and is continuing to be one of the best scorers in the game. Believe it or not, Dame is one of 5 players in the NBA this year averaging at least 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. The other four? LeBron James, Steph Curry, Russell Westbrook and James Harden.

12. DEMARCUS COUSINS, NEW ORLEANS PELICANS

Unfortunately for Cousins, an achilles tear ended his season back in January. The worst part about this is that the Pelicans were actually doing pretty well, winning games more than New Orleans fans had seen in years. Boogie Cousins was headed for the playoffs in the midst of his best season, but the achilles tear cut that short. Before the injury, Cousins had put up 25 points, over 10 rebounds and 5.5 assists which was second among centers in the NBA.

11. JIMMY BUTLER, MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES

One of the best two-way players in the league, Jimmy G Buckets has easily taken his role as the new leader for the Timberwolves. He leads the league in minutes, averaging 22 points per game while playing alongside the great combination of youth and veteran talent that the TWolves have on their roster.

10. DRAYMOND GREEN, GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

有一些独特之处Draymond格林play. He can do absolutely everything at a superstar level, except score. Everything, except scoring. His passing is indicated by his 7 assists a night and him being the leading assister on the reigning champs. His rebounding is indicated by him being the leading rebounder on the reigning champs with 7 rebounds a night, and his defense is indicated by him winning that one award last season. You know...the defensive player of the year award. There's a strong argument that he's the game's best defender, and he's also a tiple-double threat on a nightly basis. And scoring isn't important for him when he has three guys averaging over 20 point per game on his team. He's one hell of a player whether you like him or not.

9. CHRIS PAUL, HOUSTON ROCKETS

Although CP3 is in the midst of another injury riddled season, already having missed 17 games, he is putting up a fantastic first year with the Rockets. Despite having the league's leading scorer at his side, Paul has seen an increase in scoring, averaging over 19 points per game. He's also averaging over 8 assists and nearly 6 rebounds (!) along with 2 steals. His great shooting has also been a big part of his success. He's shooting midrange jumpers as easily as nothing, and his 3 point shooting is at its best this season being in the D'Antoni system.

8. ANTHONY DAVIS, NEW ORLEANS PELICANS

Anthony Davis still has a chance to be the best player in the NBA in five or six years. AD is the best forward/center in the game, given his terrific scoring and rebound abilities, and his great defense. He has a good jumpshot from inside and beyond the 3 point line. His only issue is health and durability, because as good as he is, he doesn't stay consistently healthy, and the fact that the Pelicans struggle to make the playoffs every year doesn't help his case very much either.

7. KAWHI LEONARD, SAN ANTONIO SPURS

Kawhi has been out for most of the season, so normally he could be as high 3 or 4 on this list, but actually being on the court matters. He's been the game's best defender over the last several years, and up until this season he has continued to improve as a great scorer.

6. GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO, MILWUAKEE BUCKS

The greek freak is on a tear. He's the league's second leading scorer at 28 points per game, while also averaging 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Not to mention he also averages over 1 steal and over 1 block per game. The only thing he doesn't do well is shoot. His jumpshot needs work considering that he takes as many three pointers as he does. Here's the good news with that: He's only 23 years old! The fact that he has those numbers and the skill set healready has at that age is ridiculous.

5. JAMES HARDEN, HOUSTON ROCKETS

Normally, Harden might not crack the top five (largely because of his lack of defense). This year, his defense has improved to some extent, but let's put that aside. This guy is on fire! He is the clear frontrunner for MVP this season, and is in his 4th straight year as one of the league's top two scorers. He's the league's most efficient offensive player, averaging 31 points per game while also putting up 9 assists a game, and he isn't even the true point guard on his team. Keep doing what you're doing, James.

4. RUSSELL WESTBROOK, OKC THUNDER

The reigning MVP is having another great season, but unfortunately his team hasn't met expectations. Still, Westbrook is averaging close to a triple double this year after doing so last year, even with the added talent on his team. He is one of the most fastest and most athletic guards ever to play the game, and continues to impress.

3. STEPHEN CURRY, GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

他仍然是排名最高的后卫在这个列表中。年代teph is not only a winner of 2 MVPs in the last three seasons (not including this year), and a 2-time champion, but he is the greatest shooter of all time, can score in an unlimited amounts of ways, and has some of the best handles in the game. Oh, and he's averaging 5 rebounds and 6.5 assists as well.

2. KEVIN DURANT, GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

KD might be the only player in the NBA who could possibly be looked at as a threat to the number one spot on this list (except for the player who is number one on this list). He's in the midst of his best defensive season, averaging 2 blocks a game and making a case for defensive player of the year, while putting up 26 points and 5.5 assists.

1. LEBRON JAMES, CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

Well this is obvious. He continues to age, but shows zero sign of decline, LeBron is having one of his best individual season averaging 27 points, 8 rebounds and a career high 9 assists. He's one of 2 players right now that's top 5 in scoring and assists in the league.
