Charlotte has received permission to interview Portland assistant David Vanterpool for franchise's coaching job, league sources tell ESPN. Vanterpool will meet with Charlotte today.

Vanterpool has been credited with helping improve Portland’s defense during the 2017-18 season. The Blazers rose from 21st to 8th in the league in defensive efficiency over the course of the season.Vanterpool has recently been linked to the vacant Orlando Magic coaching position as well.
