So it's August which as good a time as any for a non-basketball post. I'm wondering where Blazer's Edge folks like to go hiking and exploring.

Oregon has so many amazing places, and when I lived in the Portland area I would explore hikes out in the Gorge, but my favorite trail was probably the Salmon River trail. Located just a few miles outside of Welches on the way up to Mt. Hood the Salmon River trail is easy to get to, and is a great hike for getting into ancient old growth forest. The Salmon River is clear and cold and beautiful.

Now that I live down in the Rogue Valley I enjoy hiking up to the Table Rocks (Upper and Lower) outside of Medford. These relatively short hikes afford fantastic views over the Rogue River and are home to some unique plants that are only found in this type of habitat which has seasonal vernal pools. There's even a rare kind of fairy shrimp that emerges in these vernal pools each winter that is only found around there.

Unfortunately the wildfire smoke this summer has been so terrible that I haven't done much hiking at all lately, so I figure why not ask other fans where they enjoy exploring. So Trailblazer fans, where's your favorite trail?
