Former Blazer Chris Dudley defends Judge Kavanaugh

In the drama surrounding the Supreme Court confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, a familiar name appears. Chris Dudley, former Portland Trailblazer and one-time Republican candidate for governor of Oregon turns out to be a former classmate and fraternity brother of Brett Kavanaugh at Yale University. Here's a relevant quote from an article published in theNew York Times:

Chris Dudley, a friend and supporter of Mr. Kavanaugh who belonged to DKE and went on to play professional basketball, says the allegations don’t square with the man he knows. "That’s just not Brett," he said. "That’s not in his character."

Prior allegations about the culture of DKE and the behavior of it's members on the Yale campus over the last few decades has gotten more attention in light of the accusations of sexual misconduct by Justice Kavanaugh. More recently, DKE was disbanded at Yale for five years after a video surfaced of members making chants that included the phrase "No means Yes."

I only bring all of this up on BE due to the specific connection to Chris Dudley. AFAIK Mr. Dudley has no connections to any sort of misconduct either before or after his time as a Blazer, but it's interesting to see him come out of the woodwork to rush to Judge Kavanaugh's defense. I'll admit to a personal bias against fraternity culture generally, and I'm personally inclined to think that Chris's loyalty to a fellow DKE likely gets prioritized ahead of the truth, so the "hot take" side of my personality is curious if Chris has any skeletons in his own closet he'd prefer to remain hidden.

I've seen lots of fan scuttlebutt on BE (and linked from Reddit) describe negative interactions with Blazers off the court. Never once has that included anything negative about Chris Dudley. The only gripes I can remember are regarding his free throws.

Thoughts?
