NBA Free Agency, 2018 proved to be a challenge for the PortlandTrail Blazers. With most of their funds already tied up in long-term deals, they went hunting for quality players on the cheap. Along with a minimum deal to bring in尼克Stauskas, Portland agreed to a 2-year, $2.75 million deal with guardSeth Curry.
Sports Illustrated’s Michael Shapirobelieves thatCurry’s contract is one of the best bargains in the NBA:
He can fit right into Portland’s backcourt, heavy on the shooting, light on the defense.Damian Lillardhad a career year last season—he finished fourth in the MVP voting—but cratered in the playoffs, looking exhausted as he attempted to carry Portland past thePelicans. PerhapsCurrycan spell some rest forLillard, launch some triples and recoup the value of a lost season in the next round of free agency.
Shapiro also praised Curry’s 2016-17 campaign in which he averaged 12.8 PPG and shot 42.5% from beyond the arc.
Demarcus Cousins,P.J. TuckerandKemba Walkerjoined Curry on the list of biggest discounted contracts. While no Trail Blazers made Shapiro’s selections for worst contracts,Nicolas Batum’s 5-year, $120 million deal with theCharlotte Hornetswas featured.
