Board of Governors Approve Season Restart Plan; Portland Sole Vote Against

The Board of Governors voted 29-1 in favor of a 22-team restart plan. Portland was the only team to vote against the proposal.

Weeks of deliberation and proposals of various ways to restart the 2019-20 season led to the NBA’s Board of Governors approving a 22-team return-to-play plan on Thursday. The boardvoted 29-1in favor of the proposal, however thePortland Trail Blazerswere the only franchise to vote against the plan, perShams Charania of The Athletic.

Details about the NBA’s restart planemerged on Wednesday, which includes regular season games and a possible play-in tournament to determine the eighth seed in each conference.
