ThePortland Trail Blazershave announced that guard CJ McCollum will be out at least four weeks with a foot injury, a hairline fracture and sprain in his left foot, suffered Saturday night in Portland’s game with theAtlanta Hawks.
After their loss on Monday afternoon to theSan Antonio Spurs, the Blazers announced that McCollum had undergone further tests on his ankle that he had injured in the previous game.
Initial images suggested a sprain that would need to be re-evaluated again in a week, but the additional tests revealed more extensive damage than originally suspected.

McCollum will now be on the shelf for at least 4 weeks alongside center Jusuf Nurkic, who suffered a broken wrist a game before McCollum went down, and will be sidelined due to surgery for at least 8-10 weeks. The Trail Blazers have essentially lost Zach Collins for most or all of the season, Nurkic for more than half and McCollum for likely close to a quarter of it.
McCollum has averaged 26.7 points and 5.0 assists for the Blazers over 13 games so far this season.
The Trade Deadline this year lands on March 25th, 2021. Most of Portland’s contracts will be freely tradeable by the middle of February if they wish to make any changes to the now-depleted roster.
