Ben Simmons and Klutch Sports are talking with thePhiladelphia 76ersabout the possibility of the disgruntled star returning to the franchise. Simmons was the hottest name on the NBA trade market this summer after a disappointing end to the 2021NBA Playoffsleft the three-time All-Star on the outs with his team. Simmons had not been in contact with the Sixers this summer and skipped the beginning of training camp. Thiscost him $8.25 millionas the Sixers withheld a payout equaling 25% of his annual salary.

Now Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN报道that Sixers management, including Head Coach Doc Rivers, have met with Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports, to discuss a resolution that ends up with Simmons back in Philadelphia.

Simmons could soon speak with team officials, something he hasn’t done directly since a late August meeting in Los Angeles when he reiterated his desire to be traded, sources told ESPN.

He has become more open to the possibility of ending his time away from the team and reporting to Philadelphia, sources said.

A return would not necessarily nullify trade talks, but Simmons would play and be paid as they progress.

The 24-year-old point guard averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists in 32.4 minutes per game over 58 appearances for the 76ers last season.
