LaMarcus Aldridge To Sign With Nets

Following a buy-out from theSan Antonio Spurs, formerPortland Trail Blazersforward LaMarcus Aldridge is expected to sign with theBrooklyn Nets, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Aldridge wasrumored to be in talkswith theMiami Heat,Los Angeles Clippers,Los Angeles Lakers, and the Nets. As Portland prepared for the return of Jusuf Nurkic, they were not amid the teams being considered as the role for Aldridgewould be smallwith Enes Kanter playing well. At that time, the Miami Heat seemed the most likely potential suitor for Aldridge.

In the 21 games Aldridge played for the Spurs this season, he put over averages of 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. He is expected to add backcourt depth to an already-loaded Nets lineup featuring Kyrie Iving, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Blake Griffin. Aldridge joining the Nets means thatthree out of the sixleading active scorers in the league now play for Brooklyn.

The deal is aone-year contractat the veteran’s minimum, according to Shams Charania of the Athletic.
