TheMemphis Grizzliessecured two valuable victories against the Trail Blazers over the weekend. Fourth-year guard Dillon Brooks, who dropped a combined 43 points in those two games, took a moment to reflect on the importance of that two-game outcome after Sunday’s 120-113 victory.
TheDaily Memphian writer Drew Hillhighlighted Brooks’ comments after the game. According to Brooks, the Grizzlies are focused on completing a three-game sweep of the Blazers after Portland dispatched Memphis from the bubble last year.
“These games meant a lot,” Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks said. “I don’t think they thought we remembered what happened in the bubble. We are trying to sweep these guys and keep pushing forward.”
Brooks, who got into a heated exchange with Carmelo Anthony in the second half of Sunday’s game, explained that he isn’t afraid to engage in trash talk with opponents.
“I poke right back,” Brooks said about the banter. “I talked the whole game. They don’t like that.”
Brooks and the Grizzlies will get a chance to complete the regular season sweep against the Blazers on Wednesday.
