I'm pretty into the nerdy side of basketball - lots of hours spent ontradenba.com(aka fanspo - not loving the new name). Also @storyteller is my hero. All that said, I'm def confused by a particular cap rule...

If we traded pick(s) for a player - absorbing their salary into our cap space, do we have to use the TPE to do so? I know that if we don't have a TPE and only have cap space, we can do it without the TPE so I'm guessing no. But... does this mean that we can...

1. Sign our returning players so that their cap hit/hold is smaller

2. Use our cap space to bring in a near-max guy (via trade)

3. Use our TPE to bring in a Grant-level player ($20M, right?)

4. Use the MLE to bring in another solid piece

If this is the case, I think we're set if we trade the NO pick for Grant (if they'd go for it).

I'm feeling this roster:

Dame / Vet Min

Simons / Hart

Near Max / Little

Grant / Top 7 pick

Nurk / MLE

Would love to know if I'm scheming down the right path - all thoughts appreciated.
