ThePortland Trail Blazersare beginning their post-Damian Lillard era, but there are still feelings that are lingering, at least from Dame’s side.
In a piece written by The Athletic’s Sam Amick, Lillard shared how the Blazers were irritating in the trade request process this summer.
“It was anything to go against what I would have wanted. That part was irritating. Just based off how it was happening, I knew (it wouldn’t be Miami)…(The Blazers) hadn’t talked to Miami. So once it started happening like that, then I started hearing about all these other random teams, I was like, ‘I’m probably not going to Miami.’ So I wasn’t holding on to that too (much).”
Lillard was traded shortly before the start of training camp on Sept. 27 to theMilwaukee Bucksdespite months of making it known that he preferred to be dealt to the Miami Heat. However, the Heat didn’t have the assets the Blazers coveted, which virtually ended all talks pretty early in the process.
