ThePortland Trail Blazersare signing center Duop Reath to their third and last-available two-way contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. To clear room for Reath, Portland is waiving center Ibou Badji, reported Sean Highkin of The Rose Garden Report.
Reath, 27, played for the Blazers in theNBA Summer Leaguein July and in the preseason this October. He also served as a starter for Australia in theFIBA World Cupthis summer. In four preseason games with Portland, Reath averaged 7.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game. He showcased a nice outside touch, shooting 3/9 on 3-pointers.
The Blazers had waived Reath, along with forward Kevin Knox II, on Saturday to bring aboard Ish Wainright off waivers. Now, Reath is officially back in the mix.
The outgoing Badji, 21, joined Portland last November on a two-way contract, though he never appeared in a regular season game due to a knee injury that required surgery in March. The 7-foot-1 center from Senegal was signed to his second two-way contract with the franchise in July. His only action as a Trail Blazer came in NBA Summer League in July.
Moving forward, Highkinreportedit’s possible Badji remains affiliated with the Blazers as a player for the Rip City Remix in the G League.
Like the other players the Blazers have cut from camp, it’s very much within the realm of possibility Badji stays with the Rip City Remix. The organization has invested a lot in developing him over the past year but wants to use their two-ways on guys more ready to contribute.
Reath joins forward Justin Minaya and guard Skylar Mays as Portland’s three players on two-way deals.
