Trail Blazers Report Anfernee Simons Thumb Surgery Successful

Six weeks is the new timeline for the guard’s return.

Portland Trail Blazersguard Anfernee Simons has completed surgery on his right thumb, injured in last week’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Trail Blazersreported the successful operation on their websitetoday. Simons tore the ulnar collateral ligament on his shooting hand.

The sixth-year guard is expected to play a key role in Portland’s growth this season. He stands among the most experienced players on the young squad and is the longest-tenured player with the team.

The Blazers indicated that they expect Simons to return to play in approximately six weeks.

PORTLAND, Ore.(October 31, 2023) – Trail Blazers guardAnfernee Simonsunderwent successful right thumb surgery today to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament. The injury was sustained October 25th at the LA Clippers.

The surgery was performed by Steven S. Shin, MD at the Cedars Sinai/Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center in Los Angeles, CA.

A full recovery is expected with a return to play timeline of approximately six weeks.
