When to Hold and When to Fold - Malcolm Brogdon

In the whirlwind of off-season trades, swaps and asset accumulation, it's easy to get a little too hasty in our decision making and I think it's time for some reflection as it pertains to Malcolm Brogdon.

MB is a valuable asset that poses quite the conundrum. On one hand, he could fetch us a late 1st-round pick and filler or a 2nd and a young prospect from a contender... A tempting option in the future asset collection game. However, Brogdon's veteran prowess and two years remaining on his contract make him a valuable mentor for our young roster.

As we navigate this rebuild, it's crucial that we balance losses (to maximize draft capital) with player development (to expedite the rebuild), and MB could significantly aid in both endeavors. Having just put in a 6th Man of the Year performance, it might be best to sell now, as his stock will never be so high... Or do we retain him for this season and explore trading him as an expiring contract next year, hence giving our young bucks a full season of 1st class mentorship?

I feel I'm in the trade him this year camp, but not until the trade deadline when contenders are desperate and we've maximized his mentorship value for Scoot and Shae. But I could be convinced otherwise.

What say yeeee?
