Feigen: Rockets G Kyle Lowry Eyes Trade After Beef With Coach

207
Jonathan Feigenof theHouston Chronicle reportsthat Houston Rockets guard Kyle Lowry believes a trade would be wise because of his strained relationship with coach Kevin McHale. --------------------------------- "I honestly think it would be tough [to coexist with McHale]. Things have to be addressed. The situation would have to be addressed. If things aren’t addressed coaching-wise, I guess I have to be moved." --------------------------------- Rockets GM Daryl Morey is also quoted in the article saying the team "plans to sign" Goran Dragic, who is a free agent this summer and has been linked to the Portland Trail Blazers in rumors. Morey said the two point guards can play together but Lowry sees the team facing a Lowry-or-Dragic decision. --------------------------------- "We’re both capable starters. We both want it. It’s going to have to be a situation where they make a decision on one of us. It has nothing to do with Goran. I’m not happy with the way coaches handled things. If management wants to do something to keep Goran, I think I’ll have to be moved." --------------------------------- -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com |Twitter

Isiah Thomas hoping for return

10

"I definitely want to be in basketball again whether it be coaching or as a general manager," Thomas said by phone. "My gift is basketball. I would love working with the kids. If it's the right college program, I would consider it. If it's the right GM job or coaching job in the NBA, I would consider it. I love the game. I just want to be in the game." Despite his strong feelings for the Knicks, Thomas said he would listen to any coaching or general manager offers in the NBA.

Spurs assistant general manager Danny Ferry is among those who have been mentioned in connection with the vacant general manager job at Portland. Ferry is considered to be a strong candidate from his time with Cleveland. And his association with the Spurs during stints before and after his time with the Cavaliers won’t hurt him, either.

Levin: Blazers Are The NBA's Smashing Pumpkins

32
Michael Levin comparesthe NBA's Western Conference teams to bands onDigitalRefrain.comand writes that the Portland Trail Blazers are the Smashing Pumpkins. --------------------------- When things went downhill, they went downhill fast. The brief moment of electronica before they ultimately disbanded registered the last gasp of desperation. They were never truly great, but the hints of what could have been make the end hurt worse than people would lead on. At least J.J. Hickson managed to scrape something out of it. You feel bad for LMA, but he’ll count his money off the "Cherub Rock" royalties and will be juuuust fine. --------------------------- -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com |Twitter

Barrett: Status Of Blazers GM, Coach Searches

28

Here's Portland Trail Blazers play-by-play broadcasterMike Barrett'stake on the team's never-ending search for a new GM via thisTrailBlazers.TVvideo. ------------------------------ "I kind of like the fact that [the Blazers] don't make this a public thing. Don't mistake a lack of leaks for a lack of activity. I know they continue with that [GM search]. I know that if you are a candidate that is interviewed, a sure-fire way to not get the job is to get done with the interview and go talk about it with whoever, the media, your agent... a lot of agents do use the media." ... "I'm not too concerned that we haven't heard a ton of rumors over the last few days... It's not like they're not conducting a search or they're not out looking." ... "I expect good news and hopefully soon. I just don't know when. I know it's going to be GM first and maybe by Summer League we have a coach, maybe before that." ------------------------------ -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com |Twitter

Isaac: Appreciate Blazers Owner Paul Allen

19
About three weeks ago, we notedthat former Portland Trail Blazers executive J.E. Isaac had joined a Portland PR firm after早在2011年6月辞职. Isaac写一篇社论forThe Oregonianthis week in which he sang the praises of his former boss, Blazers owner Paul Allen. --------------------------------- Recent articles criticizing Allen and speculating about his future as the Blazers owner are further evidences some people have very short memories. How soon we forget that but for Allen's purchase of the team, his private funding of the Rose Garden and his tolerance for massive operating losses caused by the costs of fielding a competitive team in a small market, Portland, like Seattle, wouldn't have an NBA franchise today. It seems that many have forgotten that during his time as owner, the team has been to the Western Conference championships four times and to the NBA finals twice. Old news, you might say. Well, have we also forgotten that five years ago the town was as excited as I have ever seen it, even in the days of Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter, over what looked at the time to be a potential dynasty with Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden at the core of a young and exciting team? --------------------------------- -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com |Twitter
