This is a cool article from the athletic. One excerpt i found was "The origins of the 3-point line go all the way back to 1945. Howard Hobson, the famed Oregon coach who won the first NCAA tournament in 1939, conducted an experiment. He had Fordham play Columbia in an exhibition game, with a twist: He added a 3-point line. So on Feb. 7, 1945, a Fordham player named John Cahill unofficially hit "the world’s first 3-point field goal," as a reporter wrote. Hobson, described as a "progressive young strategist," had studied 23 games at Madison Square Garden during the 1944-45 season while stationed nearby with the Army. His observations convinced him that the game needed the 3-point line. Not only would it create excitement, but it would reintroduce the art of the "long shot" and, most important of all, ease the congestion and brutishness the game had taken on. – via Jayson Jenks @ The Athletic" Some nice Oregon pride!
Video detailing Roy's 2011 performance.
The sharpshooting big's contract expires at the end of this season. He's 28, and an excellent rebounder to boot.
Just cemented his status as my favorite Blazer of all time
He was already the best defender of his class, and now this. Good for him! Keep him healthy and well-fed for us, Philly!
"It was Leo Ferris who took pen to napkin at the bowling alley bar. The game is 48 minutes long. Forty-eight minutes equals 2,880 seconds. Divide that by 120, and you’ve got the 24-second shot clock."
George and Kawai have been trying to get on the same team since before the Pacer trade. Did George ever intend to honor the OKC contract?
Why it should be so odd - apart from the fact that frontcourt players are usually immovable walls of sapient meat - is beyond me.
In terms of total RAPTOR, Dame is second only to Lebron, and tied with Doncic. He leads the pack in total WAR. Meanwhile, the system rates both Whiteside and Simons above CJ, who's net RAPTOR comes out to -3.9, with a WAR of -0.2. Food for thought.
