(INSIDER) 9. Portland Trail Blazers (2012-13 finish: 11th) The Blazers are right on Minnesota's heels after a solid offseason that saw GM Neil Olshey rebuild their bench on the cheap. Only second-year center Meyers Leonard figures to remain in the rotation from last year's historically bad second unit, while Robin Lopez slides in for J.J. Hickson to solidify the starting five. If rookie C.J. McCollum contributes immediately and Thomas Robinson plays like he did in Las Vegas Summer League -- where he was a terror on the glass -- Portland will return to the playoffs after a one-year absence.

Damian Lillard already improving defense

Chris Haynes once again with a good read. This is certainly very encouraging..

Why couldn't we have picked up Jermaine Oneal for $2 million?

How'd he go to the dubs for this cheap? I want answers... or at least opinions.

Blazers interested in... Ian Clark?

I dont know who this player is, but apparently the Blazers are interested in him. It would be an interesting move if the Blazers did pick up another guard.

Blazers offseason winners

From Grantland: Portland Trail Blazers It's nothing grand, but this is what you do when you can't lure big free agents (Millsap, Splitter, Roy Hibbert) from other teams: Use your cap space to swipe assets from teams that need to cut money (Thomas Robinson), and/or play the same role to snag something as the third team in what had been a two-team deal (Robin Lopez). Toss in a solid draft and the cheapo signing of Dorell Wright, and Portland projects as a playoff contender with a clean cap sheet after 2014-15.

McCollum determined to keep climbing higher with Blazers

An article by David Aldridge on C.J. McCollum, a pretty good offseason read. Im excited to have McCollum on the Blazers, I really did think he would be taken by either Detroit or Minnesota by the Blazers pick.

Make him a BLAZER!

Had a surprising rookie year. A little old at 28. Spent time in the military. Had some solid spot starts for the Mavs and generally a solid contribution. Was cut not for lack of effort or ability but to clear room for the Monta signing. He's the type of player we need to get.
