Ford: Timberwolves Talking With Blazers; Pacers Eye Crawford?

176

A couple of NBA trade rumor notes from aChad FordchatatESPN.com, including buzz surrounding Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford... --------------------------- David Kahn really wants this [Timberwolves] team to make the playoffs. Whether that's [Michael] Beasley, [Luke] Ridnour or even someone like Derrick Williams, I think they make a move ... [Jamal] Crawford can opt out of his deal this summer so he won't cost much. I think the Blazers and Wolves are talking about a swap for [Luke] Ridnour. On the Indiana PacersI don't think they are actively trying to shake up the team. [Chris] Kaman and [O.J.] Mayo, however, are both players they're interested in. Jamal Crawford as well. --------------------------- Of Suns guard Steve Nash, Ford writes that he will "likely" stay with Phoenix. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com |Twitter

Jeremy Lin expandng his brand

Looks like the Linfuriating puns are now the subject of a handful of intent-to-use trademark applications expressing a bona fide Lintent to use the mark in Linterstate commerce.

Wow. I loved Biyombo before the draft, but didn't think he would be competing with Howard at such a high level. Awesome. Good find Cho :\

Kevin PeltonofBasketball Prospectushasa thorough recappost from MIT's annual Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, which took place last weekend in Boston. Couldn't make it this year because of Portland's home-heavy schedule. The 2013 version can't get here soon enough. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com |Twitter

I feel pretty ambivalent about the idea, like we are a few years too late. Thoughts?

Jaynes: Luke Ridnour Is "Backup Plan" For Blazers

572
Dwight JaynesofCSNNW.com on recent trade talk involving the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves. ---------------------------- I do believe there is something to all the talk of Portland sending Jamal Crawford to Minnesota for Luke Ridnour. There's no getting around the fact that Nate McMillan seems to prefer using Wesley Matthews as the backup shooting guard over Crawford. If that's the case, with Nic Batum now firmly ensconced in his rightful position as the starting shooting guard, Crawford isn't going to get the minutes he deserves. If that's the case, move him and move him as soon as possible. I'm not sure what they were thinking of by bringing him here in the first place. I also been told by league sources that the Ridnour trade is a backup plan for the Blazers, who are still hard after another point guard. That could be [Steve] Nash, Rajon Rondo or Jose Calderon. ---------------------------- -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com |Twitter
