“前辛辛那提孟加拉蒂姆·麦基is being sued by ex-University of Cincinnati basketball player Ruben Patterson, who claims McGee misled him in business deals and hasn't repaid a loan. Patterson seeks from McGee repayment of $687,000 plus $1 million in punitive damages." "I have built a reputation of integrity for the last 20-some-odd years... in Cincinnati," McGee countered, saying he was looking forward to defending that reputation at trial. "I don't think he (Patterson) paid close enough attention. He wakes up one day and he's lost a lot of money," [his attorney] McTigue said. --------------------------------------------- Don't you hate it when that happens? The article also cites an expert from a local university about the problems pro athletes face trying to maximize the money they make at a young age to last over their lifetime, and details the nature of the failed business deals. For once, the law could be on Patterson's side. During his time with the Blazers Ruben Patterson had multiple run-ins with the authorities and his teammates - notably Zach Randolph who punched him in the face - and coach Nate McMillan. Back in 2007 McGee had todefend him in the mediawhen Patterson had failed to register as a sex offender after moving back to Cincinnati. He last played in the NBA for the Clippers, and last played professional basketball in Lebanon in 2009.
Via the Miami Hearald: "The supporting cast to the Big Three is set to change whenever a new season gets underway. The Miami Herald reports that General Manager Pat Riley is planning to go after Shane Battier, Grant Hill, and Tayshaun Prince once the lockout is finally lifted. If those three don't work out, the Herald notes, the team will then turn its attention to Michael Redd and Tracy McGrady." We don't really need any of these guys since we're pretty deep at SF/SG (though I'd take Battier in a second), maybe we should do as the Heat do and find some quality role players to surround our core group, rather than taking chances with young players who have yet to prove themselves in the NBA, such as Mills, Dante, Rudy, Armon, Nolan Smith, etc. Who could come in as a veteran and make a huge difference on this team?

An Atlanta newspaper reports that the Hawks have reached an agreement with a California pizza chain owner and developer, Alex Meruelo. Meruelo, who will be the league's first Hispanic owner, insists that the team will remain in Atlanta. Meruelo opened his first business, a pizza restaurant, when he was 21 years old. His business has grown to include a chain of 50 restaurants, residential and commercial real-estate developments, construction and engineering, a bank, a motel-casino, and a TV station.
马特·巴恩斯涉嫌向敌人投掷一拳during a San Francisco Pro-Am game on Thursday. "That's part of the game, man," said Barnes. "It's physical. You know what I mean? People come out here and think they can beat and push on me. There's only so much I'm going to take. I'm a grown man first, so if you think you're going to come out here and rough me up and cheap shot, I'm not having that s__. " ESPN also spoke to a San Francisco police officer in attendance. "They got tangled up," said the officer. "A couple guys took swings. Both connected. It got broken up. They didn't eject him. Different rules here, I guess." Via ESPN and RealGM
Both Nic and Wes check in here. I have to say his candid analysis about both players I find both accurate and refreshing. Hopefully both develop and move into the top 50, but as of now I believe this is a fair assessment.
