LaMarcus Aldridge: Never thought I would see the day @Shaquille O'Neal would retire from the game! He will be missed! Hopefully I can have a career half as good as his! Twitter
Via RealGM: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki said he tore a tendon in the middle finger on his left hand while fouling Chris Bosh during the fourth quarter of Dallas' Game 1 loss to the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. "Well, it was just a freaky play," Nowitzki said. "Bosh got a bounce pass and I stepped in. I thought I stripped him clean, and then I kind of looked down and I couldn't straighten my finger anymore. I guess it will be alright. I have to wear a splint probably for the rest of the playoffs, for a couple of weeks. But it will be alright." Nowitzki said he had his finger X-rayed and it's not broken. He said he'll be able to play through the injury since it's on his non-shooting hand. He did have his finger bandaged during his post-game press conference. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Miami Heat forward Mike Miller aggravated a left shoulder injury late in Tuesday's victory against the Dallas Mavericks and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday, team officials said. Miller left the game with 3:58 remaining in the fourth quarter after taking a hit while on defense. He did not return in the Heat's 92-84 victory in Game 1 against the Mavericks and left the arena wearing a protective sling to brace his left shoulder. "It's just a little thing I'm dealing with, but I'll be all right," Miller told ESPN.com as he abruptly left the Heat's locker room and headed for the AmericanAirlines Arena garage. "I don't think it's a big deal. I'm OK. Believe me. I'm OK." Miller said he did not have an X-ray or an MRI exam on the shoulder after the game.
John Lund reported on 750am at about 1pm today that he has it from "a very reliable NBA source" that Oden wants to go to Miami after his contract with the Blazers is up. "Reported" is questionable. Says Lund:"A very reliable NBA source tells me that while Greg Oden is open to signing his $8.8M qualifying offer and rehabbing his knee with the Blazers next season, his preferred destination is with the Miami Heat. The rationale is that the only way he'll stop being compared to Kevin Durant is to win 3 or 4 rings while playing caddy alongside the big 3."Sounds like Canzano-esque journalism to me. "Journalism" is also questionable.***Update:Found the actual link and added a snippet of his quote. Click and scroll down to "#1" for his full comment.
